TQEC Research Hub for University of Bristol

The TQEC Research Hub project included the restoration of two Victorian industrial buildings; the Retort House, which can be dated back to 1821, and the Coal Shed, circa 1885. The buildings were stripped back to their existing stone walls only and the buildings are now a state-of-the-art research facility for the University, hosting specialist spaces such as the Immersive CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment), the Production Studio, a Smart Cinema and the ancillary support spaces.

In addition, workspaces, collaboration areas, and training and meeting rooms for 250 staff, researchers, partners and collaborators. This is all supported by a new modular data centre that formed part of the building and is situated externally.
